Ballantrae CDD Pond Management

The Ballantrae CDD Board developed a strategy for the consistent, environmentally responsible and aesthetic management of our 37 community ponds. The plan calls for pond slopes to be maintained with desirable plants to reduce erosion and help clean water, for littoral shelves to be planted with desirables to also help clean the water, and for the rest of pond waters to remain open for their aesthetic value and to help attract wildlife. In addition, pond inflow and outflow structures are maintained to ensure water flow and balance among Ballantrae’s ponds, conservation areas and wetlands.

Following a period for public comment by landowners, the CDD Board issued its pond management plan in 2013, composed of these two documents:
